It's been an interesting year-and-a-half. In June of 2012 we opened Gallery 109 as a collective of artists and have really enjoyed our time there. It was great being on 4th Avenue and many of us are going to miss the delicious coffees at Colossi's , the treats at Evelyns and the music from Gitters.
It all changed when we decided to take advantage of the space we co-own beside Art and Soul Studio/Gallery. As we have not had a long-term tennant since August of 2012, we have decided to use our own space at 120 - 6th Avenue SW, High River. The location is one of the 20 designated "Historic Homes of Interest" in High River, known as the Ash/Miles House. It is going to be a wonderful space to share our artwork with you, and host openings and other summer events which will sometimes include music.
Our official opening is being held on the weekend of June 7-9, 2013.
There will be an evening opening gathering on Friday, June 7, from 6 - 9 pm with artists in attendance and refreshments being served. Wayne and Ben Corner will be entertaining us with live music. Since the theme is floral, expect to see some wonderful paintings of gardens and flowers!
On June 8th, we will have some artists painting on site. On Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm, Don Hamm and Wayne Corner are going to host a concert on the back deck of the gallery! Bring your lawn chair, or blanket, some sunscreen and a hat and enjoy their performance! You may also find some artists showing work outside and maybe even painting!
The show continues into Sunday, from 1 - 4 pm. Larissa McLean will be painting on-site.
