In this course, we will learn about emotions and their role in our lives. Emotions are the core of being human and are closely intertwined with our thoughts, experiences, and behaviour. They generate our energy and ability to make changes in our internal and external world. We will focus on writing about important decisions and choices in our lives and learn how to recognize and to analyze a variety of emotions experienced during those emotionally charged events. By applying the theory of emotions, participants will learn how to create the patterns of emotions using concepts of primary, secondary, and tertiary emotions. Many examples of the lecturer ‘s writing will be presented and analyzed.

What are emotions? What is the role of emotions in our lives? Why are emotions essential in our lives? What are the conscious feelings?
Introduction:
The Psycho-Evolutionary Theory of Emotions.
Emotions are adaptive reactions to the basic problems in life.
Primary, secondary, and tertiary emotions.
Personality trait.
Application:
The lecturer will present her own writing about her decisions, choices and life transformations and show how to apply the theory of emotions to better understand those emotionally charged life events. The participants will learn how to create the patterns of emotions using concepts of primary, secondary, and tertiary emotions.
Discussion:
What are the functions of negative and positive emotions? What emotions are we experiencing during decision-making? What emotions are we feeling when we are depressed? What emotions are we experiencing when we are creating? ….And many more questions.

Application:
We will be discussing and analyzing concrete examples of emotionally charged events of participants. We will generate emotional patterns for each case.
Purpose:
The main purpose of this course is to understand and to be aware of our life choices, decisions and actions and what is the role of emotions during these important events.
